Interceptive Treatment

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children be evaluated by an orthodontist at the first sign of orthodontic problems, but no later than age 7. Some of these problems include early or late loss of baby teeth, mouth breathing, thumb or finger habits, crowded teeth, protruded teeth, shifting of the jaws, as well as many others. Early intervention with either fixed or removable appliances may be recommended to eliminate or reduce any future consequences on the development of the teeth, face, and jaws.

Comprehensive Treatment

Full braces are often used to correct any issues a child may have with the function and appearance of their teeth and bite. Generally, this type of treatment will begin between the ages of 11 to 13. The brackets are attached to your teeth and are available in metal or ceramic, if a more esthetic option is favored. The brackets hold onto the archwires, which the orthodontist can adjust to change the position of your teeth. Often times, elastics or rubber bands are also used to aid in the movement of the teeth so that the teeth will function together for an ideal treatment result. Treatment times can vary between 12 and 36 months depending on severity of the initial bite and alignment.

Clear Aligner Treatment

We offer several types of clear aligner treatment options depending on the individual needs of each patients. In this course of treatment, the teeth are moved by a series of clear, removable appliances to achieve the treatment goals. In some cases, clear attachments are placed on the teeth to aid in alignment.

Surgical Orthodontics

In some patients, the discrepancy between the upper and lower jaw is so severe that jaw surgery, or orthognathic surgery, is needed to properly position and correct the various facial bones for ideal function. By surgically correcting the position of the jaws in combination with orthodontic treatment, problems with breathing, sleep apnea, chewing, talking, and other facial esthetic concerns are possible.
